FAQs
1. What is SoundID?
SoundID is a watermarking and metadata solution for audio files, designed to protect intellectual property, track usage, and ensure authenticity. It is ideal for musicians, producers, publishers, labels, and anyone working with audio content.
2. How does SoundID work?
SoundID embeds unique, invisible watermarks into your audio files. These watermarks can later be extracted to verify the file's origin, usage history, or ownership details, even if the file has been shared or distributed.
3. Can SoundID track files recorded through browser audio recorders?
Yes! When integrated with an API, SoundID can link watermarked audio files recorded via browser-based audio recorders to specific user accounts, including metadata like IP addresses and session details. This makes it possible to trace files to the user who created or downloaded them.
4. Can SoundID help identify files on illegal sharing sites?
Yes, SoundID can assist in identifying your watermarked files on illegal sharing sites. Once a file is located, the embedded watermark can be extracted to verify its origin and take action against unauthorised distribution.
5. Can SoundID be detected via external recording devices like a mic on an iPhone?
Yes, SoundID watermarks are designed to remain intact even when audio is played back and captured via a microphone, such as on an iPhone. This makes it a powerful tool for tracing files, even if they have been re-recorded through external devices.
6. What happens if someone tampers with my watermarked file?
While SoundID provides robust tracking and verification, tampering can affect watermark integrity. However, in many cases, traces of the watermark may still be detectable, providing partial verification of the file's origin.
7. Is SoundID legally binding for ownership claims?
SoundID provides a tool for identifying and tracking audio but does not constitute legally binding proof of ownership. It is intended as a supplementary measure to support rights management.
8. Who can use SoundID?
SoundID is designed for a wide range of users, including musicians, producers, sound designers, sample pack companies, music publishers, labels, managers, and more.
9. Is my audio stored on SoundID servers?
No. SoundID processes audio files locally or in a secure environment. We do not retain copies of your files after processing unless explicitly required for support or troubleshooting purposes.
10. Does SoundID affect the quality of my audio?
No, the watermarking process is designed to be imperceptible and will not alter the audible quality of your audio files.
11. Can I remove a watermark once it’s embedded?
No, SoundID watermarks are permanent and designed to remain in the file for tracking and verification purposes.
12. How do I get started with SoundID?
